Mocali Rosso di Montalcino

Mocali Rosso di Montalcino

Wine Profile

About This Wine

Balanced and elegant bouquet, in which the fruit takes on dark tones of blackberry, black currant, and blueberries.  A gentle spiciness accompanies with nuances of cola, licorice, and forest undergrowth. Exuberant and structured, well-balanced acidity settling with nice minerality.

About This Winery

Founded in 1956 by Dino Ciacci, the Mocali farm has a rich history in Montalcino.  Before the fame that Montalcino has now, Dino Ciacci and 24 other winemakers started the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium with a shared belief that the terroir in Montalcino was exceptional for growing Sangiovese.  The diversified farm grew grain and olives alongside its grapes until a frost decimated the olive trees in Montalcino.  Dino's grandson and wife, Tiziano and Alessandra, replaced the olive groves with vines and began producing Brunello.

Today, Tiziano and Alessandra run the farm with their daughter, Pamela, and keep with the traditional style of winemaking.
